Setting Up Your BISI Store SEO
Setting up proper SEO on in your BISI store can only help drive traffic to your website. I can not help you come up with what to put in all those SEO boxes, but I can show you where all the boxes are so you can optimize your site to the fullest.
The entire site
In your admin, go to Marketing and select SEO from the drop down menu.

Now you will have a page that shows a few different fields for your SEO.
The Page Title. This is what will show throughout your entire site if you do not set page titles for each product or custom page. This will show no matter what on the home page, terms page, contact us page, and about us page.
The Description. This is what might be shown to searchers when they find you on Google. It is very important to have key words and phrases here that are not only in your page but also that people may search for. I would recommend the first paragraph of your home page also stating what you want customers to see as I have seen that become what Google picks up instead of the description you enter here. This will show the same as the Page Title
The Keywords. These are key. You need to pick not only words and small phrases that you want customers to search for but they need to be relevant to your page. Don't put in Dog House in your keywords if all you sell is cat toys. But if you sell cat toys, put cat and toys in there separated by a comma. Only use phrases when it is the only way someone would search for something, like your store name. People may search for "furry cat mouse toys" but if you put in the phrase "cat toys" they may not find you. If you separate cat and toys by a comma, then the search engines will pick up both of those words and possibly return your site for the customer.
The Custom Meta Tag Name. This is generally used for Google Analytics codes. For Google Analytics, always put verify-1 in this box. (see below)
The Custom Meta Tag Value. This is where the code Google Webmaster Tools gives you goes. Please note the format in the bottom. You do not put the entire lump of stuff they give you in there but rather just the long code inside of the quotes. Please, reference below and study what Google gives.

Individual Product SEO
You can set the SEO fields for each individual product. These include the Page Title, Keywords, and Description of the product. You will find this tab both when you add a new product and when you edit a product. If you don't feel a certain product is doing well, you can always edit the SEO and try different things until you find a combination that works for your site. But don't change it too often. Give things atleast a month, if not longer before changing things up. Unless, of course, you realize you made a mistake!
The Page Title. I would make this something easy for the searcher to recognize. Leave out the unimportant words from your Product Title. Instead of putting "My wonderful used and very old Adidas Basketball Shoes" I would put something a bit shorter like "Old and Used Adidas Basketball Shoes".
The Keywords. Words that describe your item and are found in the item description. Make these words a person will search for.
The Description. This follows the same rules as the description above except for it is for the product you are adding/editing.

Custom Page SEO
The Meta Keywords. Same as above! Just make them relevant to your page.
The Meta Description. Yep, again, the description needs to be relevant to the information on the page.

In closing, I hope that this tutorial has helped you optimize your site some to get better search results and in turn provides you with better sales and more frequent sales.
Sincerely,
Jennifer
